I have always been passionate about the environment, ever since I was a little child watching butterflies and ants. In 2000, I returned as a mature student to the University of St. Michael’s College, a Catholic College located at Toronto University, and earned a Master of Theological Studies, specializing in ecology and theology. We concentrated on the work of Thomas Berry, himself deeply influenced by Pierre Teilhard de Chardin, author of The Divine Milieu and The Human Phenomenon. Berry, along with cosmologist Brian Swimme, wrote The Universe Story, outlining the way in which earth has arisen from the cosmos itself, thus placing the earth and earth community back into the cosmos. He offers a view of the earth community as deeply interconnected, forming part of the whole with the cosmos. His views – along with my own growing observations – are included in this blog.
